Pupils in Y5 are introduced to computing at St Joseph's. They learn about the different uses of office software and other programmes available. Pupils learn about external computer hardware and are introduced to algorithms and programming.
Pupils learn how to plan projects in more depth than Y5 and evaluate work against their plans. They learn about fine internal computer components and how algorithms are used to plan sequencing instructions.
Pupils have more freedom in Y7 to choose which software they use to meet design briefs. There is a strong bias towards E-Safety in Y7 and pupils design and make their own computer game.
In Y8 St joseph's pupils expand their knowledge of computer systems and the way technlogy shapes our world and the media. Pupils are introduced to HTMC language in Y8.
